Main Line Unitarian Church Board of Trustees
I have been an active environmentalist on a personal level since the 1970’s, and having been raised as a Unitarian Universalist I practice one of the UU key principles, that all people should show “Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.”
I have also been cycling for decades and have seen an increasing awareness of the importance of bikes and bike travel as an alternative to automobiles and the flawed design of communities built around the auto. Carbon output can only be reduced if we make comprehensive community plans that allow for as many friendly alternative transit options as possible.
I ride because it is good for the biosphere, good for my community and good for my own physical health. It can also be a lot of fun!
“The bicycle is the most civilized conveyance known to man. Other forms of transport grow daily more nightmarish. Only the bicycle remains pure in heart.” - Iris Murdoch
